St. Patty's day activities for you...

I wont be teaching about, making anything related to, or even talking about St. Patty's day until next week but I wanted to post some activities here for you all to use if you were interested.

Some of the books we will be reading are:
Robin Hill School's Luck of the Irish
I love all the Robin Hill School books. This one just happened to be the first one I ever got, many years ago. I still read it every year. It teaches the difference between a Shamrock & a 4 Leaf Clover.

The Night Before St. Patrick's Day
This year I have gotten into The Night Before... series. So I picked up this little book.

The Luckiest St. Patrick's Day Ever!
I got this book a few years ago. It is so funny, my students always beg to hear it again & again.

As for activities I will have my Kinder kids make a hand print Shamrock. (see below) I got this idea from Tommie's Tools a couple of years ago. We will also be adding a cut apart sentence. I am not sure what it will be yet though. How about, "I am feeling lucky." ??? Not sure I have to play with it.
We will also be making a Counting Shamrocks book you can download here. I might even give them a Shamrock pattern to color & cut, to take home & share. They have been pretty angry with me because I have not been letting them take their projects home with them. I have been saving then to make a big book at the end of the year. So I get lots of dirty looks. Too bad, sooo sad.

My First grade tatter tots will make a one of these little guys. We will probably attach it to some writing. I liked Brook Perry's "I feel lucky today because..." sheet. I may make one to go with the little guy. Feel free to pick up one of your own here.
We will also be completing an "Follow the Rainbow" writing sheet. Get yours here. This is one of my favorite activities for March. I never want to take them down they always look so good. I am sad I don't have a picture to show you. Maybe next week. I believe both these activities came from a Mailbox magazine several years ago.

I don't want to leave my 2nd Graders out of the loop. They too get angry with me. Can't catch a break here. :)
We will be making this St. Patty's day book. I printed it up on green paper so all they have to do is cut it out, staple together & fill it in. Let's not forget some vocabulary building, that's oh so important for my ELL students. I will start our lesson with this St. Patrick's day vocabulary worksheet. Again, no pictures. :(

I also picked up some St. Patrick's day making words activities that I will be doing with every group. I just have to find where I put then in my Mac Book. Anyway, I hope you can use some of these activities. Don't forget to pick up your St. Patty's day alphabet strip too.

Enjoy your Green day too.
